Colette Safford is an Illinois native who brings experience in civil litigation, real estate, juvenile law, and DCFS defense.
Prior to joining the firm, Colette was an Assistant Public Defender who defended minors charged with crimes and represented parents in DCFS court involved cases. Previous to that, Colette was an associate at a litigation firm in Chicago where she prosecuted complex commercial foreclosures and provided litigation defense to commercial creditors and court appointed Receivers. Colette also had the privilege of operating her own solo law practice as a participant in the Justice Entrepreneur’s Project (JEP); a program sponsored by the Chicago Bar Foundation. Through her practice, Colette provided legal services to low-to moderate-income clients in forcible detainer actions, debt collection lawsuits, breach of contract lawsuits, and tort claims.
Colette focuses primarily on civil litigation, criminal trials, juvenile delinquency, and DCFS investigation defense and appeals. Colette is qualified to serve as a guardian ad litem (GAL) for minors in guardianship and adoption proceedings. Colette was appointed to serve on the ISBA Child Law Section Council for 2018-2019.
